It has been more than a year since we announced the news that a new Bar Code was coming. Today, after many decisions, unknowns and a situation that is not very favourable for tourism and catering, we finally achieved our dream, to open the doors of the restaurant that we have dreamed of.

Although it has been speculated and thought that the new restaurant in San Francisco Street would be called Contraseña, today we can reveal that we owe our new gastronomic proposal and location to Código de Barra, the restaurant that after more than 20 years of experience, hard work and desire (a lot of desire) has placed us in the place where we are today.

However, we could not leave behind what has been our home for so long, our beloved restaurant in Plaza Candelaria. Therefore, from now on we will change the name to Contraseña. But the name is the only thing that changes, since we will keep the essence of Código de Barra with a more informal proposal.

Finally the secret is revealed, the new Bar Code awaits you in San Francisco street with a new gastronomic proposal. A journey from the origins of the oldest Gades to the most contemporary cuisine by the hand of our chef Leon Griffioen. We bring tradition and memory in the most Cádiz way, a new concept where diners can choose between two menus, soon to be unveiled, through which to discover Cádiz and its history.

And for those of you who are loyal to Candelaria, Contraseña will continue to await your visit, maintaining our menu, our team, our enthusiasm and our quality, and of course we will keep our Classic menu. In case you haven't had the chance to try it yet, or in case you liked it so much that you want to repeat it.

Today we begin to build a new gastronomic history, today we begin to live our dream, today we wait for you with open arms and all the security measures imposed by this pandemic, to share with you a new way of eating Cadiz.
